Hi, my name is Sarah and I am an Australian living in The People's Republic of China; lover of life and tequila, mother of one, avid traveler, perpetual optimist and entrepreneur. I love to travel and write, so I've combined both my passions to create this blog about our experiences living in China.
I write about everything from travel, festivals and local customs as well as food and living as an expatriate.
My Canadian husband and I, along with our 10-year-old daughter, have been navigating the expat life since we moved from Sydney to Shanghai in 2016, and to Beijing in February 2022.
When we left Australia, we said goodbye to family, friends and my corporate career of 22 years to embark on the adventure of a lifetime.
This adventure is the perfect opportunity for me to spend more quality time with my daughter. To immerse myself in a new culture, learn a new language and carve out a new career giving me the flexibility to work anywhere in the world.
Since moving to China, I have seen, experienced and learned so much about this vibrant country.
My blog allows me to share my adventures with family and friends back home. As well as to pass along information I've learned, and my recommendations to other expats and anyone who may be considering a visit or moving to China.
My current expat status is termed, 'Trailing Spouse', and sounds like a nasty skin condition one may become afflicted with after staying in a dodgy hotel! I much prefer to call myself an 'Expat Adventurer'.
I love discovering new and exciting places and have travelled to many destinations throughout Australia, Canada, Europe, Thailand, Indonesia and China.
Please join me on my adventures as I walk, run, fall, shuffle and dance my way through life as an Expat Adventurer.
Sarah xx
