I can't believe it - this is spring in the 'Jing!
We arrived in Beijing on Valentines Day and although it was cold, we were told there wouldn't be any more snow this season, much to Olivia and my disappointment.
Fast forward a month and on Thursday this week, we were treated to our first Beijing snow flurry. Liv, who was super excited to begin with, quickly found it very annoying as it floated into her eyes and up her nose - Haha!
Overnight the temperature dropped and around lunchtime on Friday it started snowing again. It started as a very light snow shower, and quickly developed into big fluffy snowflakes and didn't stop!
By the time I collected Liv up from the school bus everything was covered in a beautiful white layer and the snow just kept on falling!
Liv and I agreed to walk a few blocks to allow her to play in the snow, but she wasn't counting on her feet and hands getting so wet.
We managed to walk two long Beijing blocks before she finally admitted her socks were wet and she couldn't feel her toes. Unaccustomed to snow I had no idea how long it takes for frostbite to set in so I panicked. Eeeek!!
Luckily we were only a few minutes walk from a subway station so we jumped on the metro to get home quick.
As crazy as it was to have snow so late in the season, even crazier still, was by lunchtime on the Saturday the snow had melted and we were treated to a beautiful crystal clear day.
The snow was beautiful for the short time it lasted, and the Beijing cold didn't scare us off, so we we are looking forward to more snow next season.
